My question is this. If a SM has multiple MOS and puts forth a promotion packet; is all MOS considered or just the PMOS? I have been told 1 packet is good for all MOS. I have been told I need 1 packet per MOS. No one seems to know the truth. Also if I made the PPRL as X MOS and had to xfer units and now my PMOS is Y will that effect the PPRL and will I only be considered for my old PMOS? TIA

Ok.....I will start by stating that I'm shocked as hell that your S-1 or even your RPAC could not or would not answer this. Your packet is considered off of your PMOS. Yes, when you get picked up for SGT, your others will rise into the 20 level as well. And NO...you do not need one packet per MOS....as your packet will have documentation stating all of your MOS's. As for transferring for a promotion, here is how this works.......If the only way for you to get promoted to SGT is by transferring to a different unit (and even if you have to transfer into one of your old MOSs), then your orders (both promotion and transfer) will (should) state this. You will have to stay within that unit you transfer to for one year in order to retain your rank. But the caveat is that you would have to declare how many miles you are willing to travel to receive a promotion....whether it be in your PMOS or SMOS. If you are still needing clarification....contact HRC and they can give you the proper info.

I was 68wm6 primary and 38b secondary, got promoted by primary its up to you to accept or decline, as it was I was serving as 38b, got promoted into 68w slot, so its up to you accept the promo into other mos or stay as you are and wait

This is a great example on how to take care of soldiers, or lack of. When your currently active in Reserve or Active duty, and you have to resort to FORUMS to get answers on how things work, or should there is a problem. If your reading this and it applies to you, fix it! Take care of soldiers, as they are what makes the Military what it should be.
I am retired, and now have a son on active duty, its very pathetic, to tell him things how they should be, and he asks why his NCOs are not telling him this...
i hope this experience has taught you to take care of soldiers, and help them so they too can have a successful career.

I'm with you SFC Hernandez. I will do my best to be proactive in having the answers for my soldiers. The reserves are unique in the limited amount of face time you have with your CoC. Everything is done via .mil and not always clearly understood or accessible from home.

This month you might do X to solve the problem, only to find out next month at drill something was done wrong and the process has to start over. It shouldn't take four months to adjust a SM PMOS. It seems to be that you have to know the answers to the questions you don't know to ask.

Honestly, I am rather embarrassed to have to ask these kind of questions on a forum. Thankfully individuals like yourself and SSG Livingston are will to help by either knowing the answers or shining a light on it to find the answers. Enjoy retirement, I wish your son all the best!

SSG (Join to see) - As a Reservist myself....and also having served on Active Duty....I know the pain you are going thru and have also met many Soldiers.....before and after I became an NCO....that have to result to forums to get questions that their NCO's should be able to answer....It truly does chap my six something fierce when Leaders willfully choose not to provide for their Soldiers. And if I am asked by one of my Soldiers a question I don't know the answer to....I have NO issues calling up to BN to get the answer.

SPC Joshua M you can trust the comments from SSG Thomas Livingston as that's how I observed it working during my time in the Army Reserve. Good luck in all your future endeavors! Remember take care of your Soldiers and they'll help take care of you. Just don't neglect your individual responsibilities !
