Read this article by Allen West. Does this sound like speech points to get someone elected or does this sound like a legitimate threat?

I think we're giving the bad guys more intel than they need by posting theses stories in a public forum and pointing out the flaws in the potential plans, but that's US politics for you.

I agree. Bad OPSEC if you get to specific. Speaking generally about it is fine but speaking on specific flaws of our security, vulnerabilities, good ideas for attacks.... big no no.

MAJ Robert (Bob) Petrarca I agree that OPSEC has lapsed, however, forums are the last place you will find the information. Our friends in the news, papers, magazines, etc. are spewing far more information than we would ever link to these forums.

When I left Qunatico, I had to again sign an NDA stating that I would not reveal state secrets about the unit. So I have not, when asked I tell people to go to wikipedia to find their answer, and they do find the answer, for which I was unable to discuss. Things like that irritate me, because we in the services take those oaths and promises seriously and live by the requirements. The rest of the populace does not/will not care, until it affects them personally.

I'll read the article after this post. Without a shadow of a doubt we are susceptible of being attacked again. Yes there are those who are aware of their surrounding and there are those who will step up to the plate and act when they see something wrong. However, that's only a few and for the most part if you actually go out and watch people, you'll see that people are wrapped up in their own lives [which they should be] that they don't notice the homeless person asking for spare change on the side of the road.

You are absolutely correct, Americans have a perception of safety which is not real. We do not pay attention, and we no longer help one another or look out for one another. I remember several years ago, like 20 or so, there was a story in the paper about a man who was an illegal migrant worker who was hit by a car while trying to cross over interstate 5 freeway at Camp Pendleton. The impact broke both of his legs and he was thrown into the median where there was some shrubbery. As the story goes it was a hit and run, so he was left on the median. He was able to crawl to the edge of the freeway and attempted to wave down traffic for 5 days. In the end somebody pulled over and assisted, they guy almost died from exposure and dehydration not the impact.

That is a busy freeway, and just goes to show that if there is no personal gain most people will not stop and do the right thing.
