Apply for flight medic school or attend night school. Those are my two recommendations.

The process is different depending on where you are and how you want to do it. My unit paid for mine and sent me to a local college for seven months. There is the Flight Medic program which the Army funds 100%. There are also several programs at colleges surrounding many installations, so my advice is to check with them (start at the education center) as there is likely a program in place.

I would agree with the Flight Medic option. It would get you NRP and FPC. I have seen multiple SSGs in the course, it is challenging and quite high paced but manageable.

SFC Rich Combs - Not yet I will not sit for that until September. We are still in Paramedic. They will throw in some critical care concepts as we go along so that it will not be completely foriegn when we start that portion.

SGT (Join to see) - There are some 3-5 day FP-C review courses out there, which I highly recommend. The test is very tough, but for good reason. We had paramedics with my civilian medevac company that failed 3-4 times with 5-6 years of critical care experience but no military or civilian 911 time. Just give the respect it deserves and you will do great.
Good luck!

SFC Rich Combs - Oh most definitely. Like I said the school here does a great job preparing us. We do about 2 months or so preparing for it. I think the class that just took it was 100% first time go. I will definitely be studying my tail off in preperation!

SGT (Join to see) - That's good to hear, for too long the military provided great training but without a real comparable civilian certification. Actually a hot topic in congress right now.
