Some times great ideas are generated out of practical need and benefit us in many ways. They also make the SM involved in making effective policy changes which gives a sense of belonging.

What have you ever suggested to improve something and what would you do if you could to make things better in military life?

I think the suggestion program is a good program. I have never used it myself, but I've seen people rewarded financially ($$$) for suggesting things that save the Army (in my case) money.

I would suggest that we get a handle on mandatory online training -- figure out a way to track it -- and only be required to do it once each mandatory period (usually annually). I have seen units "panic" and ask people to do annual training three or four times a year. There's gotta be an easy fix for that, but I still see it happening.

When Active Duty 1979 stationed at Dover AFB, DE I submitted a suggestion regarding the proper reading using the C-5 MADAR System to monitor and diagnose engine vibrations and it was used in training the flight engineers. I have seen great ideas and improvements coming form the folks in the front lines of aircraft maintenance.

CMSgt Robert Gates _ I had a rather simple idea myself which was to use both sides of the tele-autowriter between weather, the control tower and base operations. Got like 100 dollars for that one...... The paper used in the tele-autowriter saved money if we did what I suggested and we did. lol Good work Top!!! on ur idea!

SSgt Larry Olson_ I received a very nominal gift. Not much money but just knowing that a procedure could be elevated and then used to assist in the maintenance of such a wonderful aircraft and to make flying them more safely. Personal pride has no monetary value.

I set up a foundation, ignored every one else's bias, and created effective programs to help folks slice through bureaucracies.
