Recently a few disgruntled Cadets decided to send up emails to the brigade commander and Cadet Command about our Professor of Military Science. Long story short these emails told straight up lies and caused some (optional) training that was helping a lot of cadets get better cancelled. I want to know if I have options to set the record straight without causing our PMS further trouble.

I cannot speak to what you can or cannot do, should or should not do; but there's something about your post that is bothersome to me as both a soldier and an NCO. Understand first, it's not about you.

Obviously there is more than one side to any story, but all I or anyone else can do is take you at your word, so I will. So when taking you at your word-and assuming you are absolutely, and factually correct--I am bothered by the idea that future military officers would conspire together, hurt others, and all to further their own interests. Whatever those interests may be.

I get that cadets are going to be young, semi-mature people (generally speaking), but if they are capable of, as you claim, lying about others and sabotaging training opportunities as a consequence, these kids need to step away from the uniform. If true, I damn sure don't want such scum in command positions. There are more than enough self-centered, toxic leadership out there. Let's not add more.

For the most part the Cadets coming out are going to be great in my opinion. The issue is that we have some bad apples and their voices are the ones being heard. Here's a more in depth accounting of what they claimed and how I know its lies. They're claiming our PMS doesn't care about our academics despite the fact that said PMS is the one who set up a Cadet to Cadet tutoring program and mandates study hours for anyone under a 3.0. They claimed they were wasting Cadets time with events. Only issue is said events have had enough volunteers(real volunteers not "volunteers") so that we didn't need to draft anyone. Then they claimed that the weekend training that we were doing was mandatory. It was made extremely clear that the training was optional and it was benefiting everyone who decided to go without any repercussions for those who didn't(I know this because I'm friends with those who couldn't go and they had no issues). So Cadet Command has now sent down a hammer that we can't do anymore weekend training(which personally helped me finally get land navigation down). No more events(which was making us look great to the community and were fun) and no more pretty much anything. Its frustrating for those of us trying to get better that now instead of doing this officially we have to go out to our navigation woods on our own which is less safe and less efficient.

SGT Dave Tracy, that is exactly what I was thinking. If this is true, the mutineers need to be squashed and made to understand how the Army works. Leaders can not behave this way, and they are learning a lesson that will have reverberations in their future careers.

Been out the Army for a while. But I really worry about the future of the military, if this is absolute truth. I can understand young inexperienced privates conspiring against someone. But would expect better from future officers. But than again cheating scandals and such have plagued the POINT in the past. Hell they probably wear dainty ladies underwear as well.

That would depend on what position you hold in the department. If that position places you as authorized to "set" that record, by all means do so. I find it shocking that we have cadets in your program that already don't live up to our Army Values. Perfect time to espouse those during the discussion.

I'm just a second year cadet sir, but the ones causing the problems are also second year and first year cadets. So I figured that leaves it to us if anyone to try and fix it.

Then by all means call them out. Peer's are the perfect ones to quell these situations, and should, before the situation gets out-of-hand and everyone suffers; especially the unit.

I would say you can do one of two things...

1) Type up a Memo For Record and write out the facts as you know them
or
2) Wait until the Investigating Officer calls you in to fill out a Sworn Statement, where you will write out the facts as you know them.

I would say to stand by for #2 as this one is more likely to happen.

write down the facts as you know them. stress and time will allow them to fade and slip away. if you are called to make statement, bring a copy of the paper. i think it would show positive credibility that your old and new versions match up. any gaps will be exploited.
