Hey everyone! I've been in the Army for 4 years:
3 in the Army Guard and 1 in the Regular Army.
Ever since AIT I wanted to be part of the 75th Ranger Regiment. I never had this much motivation and passion to to become a Ranger up until this point and I have so many questions to ask. I go to Reddit to ask questions and some are seemingly true, but others are borderline sarcastic and help no one in any way.
My first question is, what is it like to be Signal or any other support MOS in the Regiment? I am aware that the 75th can be cult like in nature but for very good reason. I want to be able to perform my job at the best of my abilities and I really want to be a more proficient soldier and individual.
My next point for this question is will I get to do any Signal job in the Regiment? I am hungry for knowledge and personal growth.
Second, is life harder on Support Soldiers who do not have their tab, especially if you are an E-5 trying to go through RASP? I have read that you only get one chance as an E-5 for Ranger School or you will be RFSed. Not going to lie, I am nervous for that. But I so badly want to earn the title of being a Ranger.
Third, I am 24 years old and I want to be in the best shape of my life for the pipeline. Where should I be physically and mentally before submitting a 4187? My PT is at a 298, but I want to aim higher. I feel really confident, but I know I need to brush up on things such as Land Navigation and the like.
I also contacted the recruiter about my MOS and even though they are not MTOED they could find a spot (which sounds like a good or bad thing)
My GT score is a 103 and I am attempting to see if I can get that waivered.
I am very willing to put in the work to become part of the elite, but I have to know some PROs and CONs of what I will be facing as soon as I start this process. Any brutal and honest answers are very welcome!
Thank you all for your help and support.

Some things can't be answered, only experienced. Send your ERB to [login to see] and find out what you're made of.

Def reach out to the Regiment. If they have a slot for your MOS you can prob get into RASP. Getting through is on you. As far as life in Regiment: getting there is tough. Staying there is tougher. There are no safe spaces or participation trophies, but hey if it was easy then everyone would do it.
Bottom line:it will be the hardest and best thing you’ll ever do.

While I was in the 25Q was designated the 31R nom. Before I got out we switched to the 25Q nom. Out of Airborne School I was selected for RIP. But before I started their was a switch where the rangers were no longer taking in that MOS (31R / 25Q). It's more or a support role. I would suggest a re-class to 25C and get good at wave link understanding and be able to construct field expedient antennas and tac sat work.
