As of last year there were 83 GO's in the USMC. 4-four stars/17-three stars/26-two stars/36-one stars.

That is obscene. As for the number of Generals walking around the White House. Where is Al Haig when we need him

The real obscenity is the shear number of GO's our services have in total... Today there are approximately 886 GO's/Admirals on active duty: 37 - four stars/139 - three stars/299 - two stars and 411 - one stars. The FO/GO ratio to number of personnel as a whole is bloated badly and Congress has been trying to get rid of nearly a quarter of them in the past few years to no avail. When you consider the size of the staffs that go with each of these officers you begin to see the level of bureaucracy...it's no wonder we can't get anything done in today's military...JMTC.
