Is there a regulation against gaining citizenship in foreign countries? What about countries with no diplomatic recognition?

There are two new nations I'm aware of that are seeking recognition as such: Asgardia (a space-based nation) and Liberland (a libertarian nation founded on an unclaimed corner of Europe). It's got me to wondering, is there a regulation that would prevent a soldier from signing up for citizenship in these or other countries? What about security clearances? Would it hurt your security clearance to join a country that the U.S. doesn't even recognize as existing?

My understanding is that if you hold a dual citizenship or are a foreign citizen on a green card or whatever, that you cannot obtain a security clearance.
I know a guy that was a dual US/Brazil citizen because his family still lives in Brazil. He couldn't obtain a secret clearance because of it.

The Military never cares about what you do with citizenship it is actually the State Department. DoD follows State Department rules and regs. So your probably addressing the wrong department to begin with.

If Liberland wasn't between Croatia and Serbia it may be pretty nice. Although as soon as the first politician is elected that'll all change.
