Can I appeal a waiver denial by Ft. Rucker on my flight physical? Should I try and go through another flight surgeon?

I completed my flight physical with a civilian Flight Surgeon. I was required a waiver through Orthro (due to Temp Profiles) and BH (Marriage Counseling). I was cleared by both sections, but the Flight Surgeon called and told me the waiver was denied by Ft. Rucker. He didn't have any other details other than it was denied. Is this the end of the road for me, or should I try and go through another flight surgeon?

I remember those messages for waiver denials. Not for flight but just in general. NO with no explanation and none ever given. That was about it. Pissed me off as a recruiter.

I've only had one negative experience with a Military Doctor and it was an Army civilian Doctor. Even the medical staff knew this doctor was unreasonable and nothing but a uncaring, bureaucratic POS and could care less they had a negative effect on other people. and actual health had nothing to do with it. in My opinion that person couldn't have cared less about people. . I never even once had such a bad experience with a Doctor in the Air Force. The unyielding approach of Army medicine made Me glad I had been Air Force and not Army. I know that was just one Doctor and actually My private physician for over 35 years was a former Army Major and Army Doctor and was one of the best around but even He got out and said many were more interested in getting promoted than being Doctors and that wasn't the way He wanted to practice medicine and left the Army. He also had been selected for promotion to Lt Colonel and turned it down. They told Him You'll have better quarters as a Lt Colonel, he told them I'll have better quarters as a civilian Doctor. His Nurse in His Civilian practice was a former Army Nurse and Captain.

SMSgt Lawrence McCarter - I didn't particularly like doctors at all while in the Army. My two favorite 'docs' I ever had were both PAs. One an Army CW3 and one an AF Captain. I had a Army Major surgeon who was all excited to do a surgery on me that would have been about 50/50. I found out later from another surgeon that it was pretty much just something he wanted on his resume. Fortunately his superior went with alternate treatments and I am still walking among the living today. I went to the Navy Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland a couple times. That place was like a quiet church while right down the road Walter Reed was like a zoo.

It might do better to go to a military flight surgeon who knows the system to get it past Ft Rucker.

It's a waiver. They don't have to give them to you. Frankly, if they are not in need of the position that you are attempting to get into, then they probably aren't going to be waivering anyone into that position. You can probably attempt to apply for a waiver again, but I would imagine that if they still don't need people for the positions, if they have the option to take candidates that don't require waivers, or your circumstances just make it out to be outside the umbrella of what they usually will waiver, then you probably aren't going to see a different outcome.
