I suppose I'm a bit of a one off as a parent. I'm a divorced dad with, what amounts to, sole custody of my daughter. I believe I'm somewhat unique because normally the dad is considered a disposable, secondary entity when it comes to child custody. I am thankful that I am the exception that proves the rule.

I say that to say, that not only will I be cooking for my daughter and I this year, but I will also have at the table, my mom and dad (mom, 64) and (dad, 69), but also my ex-father-in-law and my ex wife's stepmother. Both of whom have been firmly in my corner in regards to the separation, divorce and custody issue.

My ex father in law and I have become such good friends since the breakup...as have my ex's stepmother and I. It all boils down to the fact that they see the kind of father I am to their grand-daughter...and the kind of mother their daughter is not.

It's all very surreal if you look upon it with the traditional dividing lines of a typical divorce in mind. But it makes crystal clear sense when viewed from close up and with knowledge of all the facts.

Who will be around your Thanksgiving table this year? Will it be an unusual (by most standards) assembly of people, like mine will be? Or will you be gathering with the nuclear family - and extended family which is more traditional?

Please sign block 12. Initial if you concur or non-concur below that.
You are not expendable as a parent, and yes I know what you mean by that. You and those like you, are who I was referencing in my second paragraph in the what's a bad ass thread.
You're corrective training will consist of many laughs with the family, documented here on RP. You will be personally responsible for washing the dishes in the Army Class B uniform with all authorized awards present, and NOT get your hands or uniform wet. You're part of the E4 Mafia so I think you need to connect with them on how to accomplish this.
My leaders responsibilities will be to verify that you were in the correct attitude with the correct time, at the correct place. To do this, I will be in T shirt and shorts somewhere near you (in VA really) and will cyber-supervise your mandatory fun from my place of mandatory fun.

*******there are no rebuttals to this without being in the front leaning rest**********

I am blessed. Though I will not be with immediate family this year, I will be having Thanksgiving dinner with several comrades in arms from assignments in the States, the ROK, Europe and the Gulf War, as well as three of my God children.
I wish every one a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.
