How can an Army spouse find financial help for emergency medical medical bills?

So, friend of a friend got beat up pretty badly at a party this weekend, and needs to get medical treatment. She's got a possible broken jaw, missing teeth, 10 stitches, the like. Tricare is 5-10 days out, attorney needs 10k to start the case, CID and legal both said they can't help her get the money. Any avenue I'm missing to help her out?

Something about this just doesn't sound right at all. If this is the spouse of an active duty service member then going to the ER should have been the first move and everything should have fallen into place after that. As far as investigating the incident, CID isn't going to be doing crap unless this issue happened to take place on the post. In the case of this kind of thing happening on the post, what the hell kind of crap is going on in housing?! Lastly, unless you are somehow suing someone for damages or what have you then you don't need a damn attorney (and unless you are hiring some famous attorney, I don't know what kind of lawyer needs 10k for a retainer). Just a side note, what kind of ridiculous people is this spouse hanging out with where this kind of crap happens?

What do you mean by "Tricare is 5-10 days out"? Also, what do you mean by "10k to start the case"? A lawsuit or to pay for medical bills?

LTC Kevin B. Alright, than you Sir! We went to the hospital, which said they serve active duty first (Which would explain the wait), and I think it would be a civil suit (if she's trying to get him to pay for the med bills). Thank you for the help!

SPC (Join to see) - Something still isn't squaring up in this scenario. Emergency Rooms use Triage systems to determine who gets seen first. If it is Emergency Care (life or wound stabilization) or Acute Care (undue suffering), a person's military status is not part of the triage.

If she is active or a spouse, then TRICARE is immediate- you can have her check AER or the Red Cross.
