Why are endorsements so freely given? When did this start happening?

It has been some time since my last visit to the community, and I apologize for being away for so long.

Now explain to me why everyone is in the double digits for endorsements. I remember a time, where it was almost an act of Congress to receive one from someone you hadn't personally served with. Maybe I've just been away for a little too long, and they are all well deserved, but I do find it a bit interesting.

That's a helluva good question. I've been on RP a couple of years now and keep receiving endorsements and haven't a clue why or what they mean. I feel sort of obligated to "return the favor" but haven't and, thus, am left with a small measure of guilt.
