I've eaten at various locations around the world, always trying local cuisine in addition to the "local take" on popular American restaurants, in every port I stopped in while on Submarines.

I would have to say, though, that the most interesting place I every ate was on my first boat. We were doing a "Magellan" cruise (around the world) prior to decommission going from Connecticut to Hawaii the LONG way around. One day we surfaced in the middle of the Indian Ocean for a swim call and a "Steel Beach" picnic, where the cooks brought a small grill topside, fired it up, and did burgers and dogs. That was the most interesting place I've ever eaten.

1973 DMZ Korea in the field, no fire allowed, no heating tabs, ate a frozen can of Spaghetti (C-Rats).
You did say, "Most Interesting Place." 11B is for me. Salute!

Probably an Iraqi nationals house. Had that naan bread with fried eggs and whatever meat they used. I don't think Ill ever know if it was as good as it actually tasted or if it just wasn't an MRE and that's what tasted so good haha. The tea was great too. Also was camped at a IP station during the elections as a QRF for polling locations and it was fun interacting with them in close quarters like that and trying all their food.

For some reason civilians think a Burger King in Iraq is super interesting as well... haven't figured that one out yet.
