Can an approved block leave cancel because I had to take emergency leave?

I was pretty much forced to take emergency leave to be able to see an family members that was at the hospital due to a complications with a tumor. Now I was told that because of that they are going to cancel my block leave even tho was already approved.

Leave is not a right. Your commander does have the power to rescind your approved leave.

How much leave did you have prior to taking the emergency leave and how many days of leave did you take? Emergency leave is still counted against your accrued leave.

I submitted an ordinary leave and explained the reason of my sister being in the hospital, and it was denied and I was told that the only way I could go was with a red cross message. And the reason I was given for my block leave to be canceled was because I took emergency leave, exact words.

And to give better explanation on why the original leave was denied, my lt decided to never submitted it because to his eyes it was not going to be approved. And when I find out about I confront him and my commander but they both cover their backs.

I cannot speak for your command, however... block leave in the Marines is/was normally established in connection with pre-deployment work ups. This ensures that the service member is available for required pre-deployment training and pre-deployment administrative requirements. I am guessing that block leave was denied to ensure that pre-deployment or annual requirements are met.
Red Cross verification is a command's best method of ensuring that emergency leave is an actual emergency. Emergency leave is normally authorized in the following situations:
_The member’s presence contributes to the welfare of a dying member of his or her immediate family or spouse’s family.
_There has been a verified death in the member’s immediate family or the spouse’s immediate family.
_There has been an injury, major surgery, or serious illness in the member’s immediate family or the spouse’s immediate family resulting in a serious problem only the member can resolve.
_A natural disaster such as a flood, hurricane, or tornado occurred that affected the member personally.

PVT (Join to see) - No one can "pocket veto" a leave request. Once submitted by the requesting service member, it is an official communication between the requesting service member and the command authority. Your Lt's action was incorrect. Your Commander, I will assume a Captain has nothing to cover, except whether or not he/she issued corrective guidance and/or discipline to the Lt. That is not something that would normally be made known to you. However as a Battalion CO, should I become aware, I would certainly want to know if the Lt was corrected.
