What documents do we need to prep? What kind of POA is best? Things like that. Just want to make sure we are prepared for whatever comes up while he's gone.

I'm guessing that you two have not attended a Pre-Deployment Yellow Ribbon event yet. All of your questions can and will be answered at that time as there is sooooo much information to give out. Too much, in fact, for a proper response here on RP. But, another great place to start is here:

Oh awesome!! Thats the kind of thing I was looking for. This will be his 3rd deployment/ 1st one married, so we are kinda in a rut on what we need to do. Is this a go when you go type thing or does the unit set up a time for them?

PV2 (Join to see) you also have SRP. I would ask what the predeployment calendar looks like. They usually have a family targeted event in the Special Event Center over by The Commissary. The unit and families can hit the booths. Part of it is Readiness briefings from FMWR, ACS, FAP and others.

I've never seen a TDY or PCS move where We didn't get a checklist of things that had to be done for any move. There are a lot of things that have to be followed up on that are important and briefings, publications, Wills , Power of Attorney etc. The resources for helping on that are available at You Military Personnel Center at You post or Base. Don't be afraid to ask but usually You will get a package to help prepare if You don't then ask for it.
