Reality tv2
Today I see an advertisement for a new reality show called "Sex Box." I hang my head in shame. Other shows like Sister Wives say they receive tax benefits for all their illigitimate children spawned by the same "husband." Then bring on the cross-dresser shows, Jersey Shore, mafia wives, illegal moonshiners, Honey Boo Boo, spouse swapping, Amish gone wild............I guess I am just an uptight, confused, old timer who is lost in the past. Remember watching the Waltons? What would John Boy do? Is something wrong with me for never wanting to watch anything other than the History Channel?

I have to say though Rick Harrison does place some history behind it more than the other pawn store shows.

It all goes back to sensationalism and emotionality. So many people love to see others fail instead of just doing the right thing. I used to watch a few of those shows but after a while I started seeing them for what they are: mindless distractions from reality and the truth. I do watch a few shows on TV but I'd rather watch History or Discovery Channel stuff as well as documentaries.

SSgt Alexander Ingram, that is definitely a sad "reality" too. Too much garbage even on the decent channels. Personally, the best one I saw was one called "Top Shot" but it turned into a bickering thing too. SMH!!! I just wanted to see the competitions, challenges and phenomenal marksmanship.

SFC James Sczymanski, no doubt. Truly sad. I may not like certain things whether shows, movies, businesses, ideologies, politicians, etc but I have never greatly desired someone to fail nor have I been gleeful/gloating when someone does. That's just not right and downright petty. If something/someone fails, then encourage them to pick themselves up, learn from the mistake, change what needs to be changed and try again.

Since I just finished getting my brain rewired taking the MBTI again, of the tested population 59% are Feelers. This ties into the response regarding emotion. I would bet money, reality shows promoters don't do anything without consulting MBTI stats to determine their audience, as well as handpicking focus groups based on personality.

Cpl (Join to see), exactly. We are all hard-wired for emotions, intelligence and spirituality. Unfortunately, there are many who completely neglect one or two of them to their detriment. It's not only reality promoters but advertisers and businesses who pander to one's emotions in order to get a person to do something. In fact if you think about it, humans do the same thing when it comes to the dating scene. We try to attract someone by pandering to our own emotions but more specifically to theirs.

I believe that the health of a society can be judged by what it considers entertainment. I equate most of today's TV to the days of Rome's "Bread and Circuses".

SFC Mark Merino, my DAILY semi-comical, but fully sincere head-shaking response is...

We're Doomed...
