The birthday of the army was yesterday. It was my second to last day at phase 1 OCS and even though I was on an army base, it wasn't mentioned at all. When I was in the Marines, the USMC Birthday was celebrated even if you were in training. It's a huge deal.

It is usually a big deal. Ceremonial cutting of the cake with a saber by the oldest and youngest soldiers on the installation/unit. There is usually an Army Ball or a unit ball timed with the birthday.

SPC (Join to see), state OCS programs have limited time to deal out a lot of training. Many times, events that you might expect to be recognized are omitted in order to get the required training accomplished in a compressed time period.
Simply speculation, but very likely the reason no celebration occurred.

In my old unit the DFAC treated it like a holiday. We did “fun” runs and got a half day.
