I really do not like the idea of sequestration because it puts national security at risk. How about this cost saving tactic and cut Congressional benefits and pay.

Here is the problem as I see it and it frustrates me. The people who vote on the amount of money the Armed Forces receive and the amount of money that the politicians receive are the same. They are not going to cut their own pay. Would you? So what can we do about it? We can't just not vote because some how some way we will have a person in office. They are going to continue taking money from us because it doesn't effect them and i honestly can not think of one thing we can do about it. We are at the mercy of the lawmakers making laws that benifit them.

I agree it is a catch 22 and you are correct Congress will never vote themselves a pay cut or cut there benefits but they don't think twice cutting veterans and service members benefits. We as collective organization must exercise our inalienable right to vote and send a message to Congress. I still wish they take page out of Peyton Manning's playbook though.

Vote on what though? Our choices come down to a turd and a douch. Neither is going to really do any good for us; only further their own agenda. And if we did get one or two politicitions around to help the vets and service members they would be moved out quickly.

From a retired military stand point, if Congress would have thought things through they would have never agreed the the President on the most stupidisted thing in the world.. It's puts Vets retirement (comp) check against, active duty (pay) against, Cilivans (SSN) if you can see it this was then it's more understandable.
This does not count any Black Ops Projects, that is not in the normal budget that each President sends to Congress each year.

1SG (Join to see) I started my own term limit a Congressman gets two terms for a total of four I then vote pretty much against them because if the have not accomplished anything then they do not belong. A senator unless they accomplish something does not get more then one term. Even if the douche is worse then turd it sends a message. I have this opinion if you do not want to vote then don't whine about it.

There's no doubt that we have to make cuts, our budget is mathematically unsustainable. But here are a couple of problems I've noticed from sequestration:
1) Despite being given less money and personnel (military and contractor), we are still expected to maintain the same Ops tempo - in fact I'd say it's increasing in some ways. Do more with less. We need expectation management
2) The government/DoD is afraid to cut entire programs. Instead, they cut out parts and pieces - leaving it at an unsustainable level - such that it dies off slowly. If you're going to make massive cuts to a program, you need a sensible disposition plan - or just bite the bullet and cut it entirely.
