does the VA pay partial temporary 100% disability?

i am having surgery in January and know i will be out at least 30 days. does the VA pay partial temporary 100% if i am out of work over 30 days?

I know that the VA gives Temporary 100% because I was given it when I had heart surgery. With that said, if the surgery isn't due to a service connected claim, I am pretty sure the VA won't do anything for you. Give the VA a call and ask them, or call DAV or the VFW. They have people that are trained in processing claims.

it is for a service-connected disability. i was just wondering if i am out of work, for example 45 days, would i get a month and a half of temporary 100% and half of my normal rating? or one month temporary 100% and one month normal rating?

SrA John Monette - IIRC after my last back surgery I got one month at 100% , then back to my regular amount.

So do they pay in addition to your sick pay from your job? Just curious because last year I was out of work for 10 weeks due to shoulder surgery (the shoulder is service connected). I know it's too late, but again, just curious.

they do pay in addition to. i will be using some sick leave from my job. filing for temp 100% when i get the doctor's note stating the recovery time. you can probably file retroactive for your shoulder surgery. don't know if there is a time limit on filing for temporary 100%

SSG Laurie Mullen The VA does Temporary 100% disability if it's service connected. You might be able to get back pay.

It depends on the procedure and how long it takes to determine a cure. I had a friend that was treated for prostrate cancer. He drew 100% during the time he was treated which it was reduced to 50% unemployable. He died a year later of COPD. He couldn't put down the cigarettes.

no cure for this. having surgery to hopefully remove some hardware the military put in in 1990. recovery time at least 30 days
