Is the Iranian military getting out of hand or just out of control?

I agree that the local commander had to give the order or the pilots were doing this on their own. Either way there are many encounters that happen between Iran and the U.S. that are conducted with professionalism and respect for one another. For something this unsafe to occur had to be directed by someone local. I would like to think that the Iranian higher ups are not trying to create a military incident.

I agree Senior that is why I am pretty sure the higher command was not aware of this pilots actions. Yet, with them lending a hand in Tikrit and all the trouble the start through their "State Sponsored" terrorism in the region I wonder if they are getting a big head and ready to take us on more aggressively then in the past.

Sir, I agree with you. The fact that there are possible individuals over there who are willing to go head to head with one of our aircraft is disturbing and should be a cause of concern for those in the gulf region. What would keep one from launching a missile at one of our ships patrolling in the area? An uneasy situation, nothing good can come of this if we don't keep our guard up.

I think the Iranian governement is in an all out blitz against the US and it's allies in the region. They are running circles around Kerry and Obama and refuse to give an inch in nuclear "talks." They have been running proxy wars in the region (Houthis in Yemen, Hezbollah and Hammas in and around the region etc). They sent arms and munitions into Iraq against us for years.
They see weakness and they are acting on it. They have had a general recently state " "erasing Israel off the map" is "nonnegotiable" (Brig. Gen. Mohammad Reza Naqdi). The Ayatollah Khomeini was at a rally recently where the crowd was chanting death to America. His response "Of course, Death to America." Why are we still at the table?
The are the aggressor in the region and they have seen our president falter on many occassions. The fact that we are still at the table when they are essentially thumbing their noses at us is proof to them we will take any deal we can get. Obama wants a deal at almost any cost. This is more proof of weakness as far as they are concerned.
You might recall the Iranian Navy recently destroyed a mock up of a US carrier during a military excercise. Now we have aircraft buzzing ours. Coincidence? I think not.
