The President said "we leave no one behind!" however Amir Hekmati, an American-born former Marine, has been held prisoner in Iran for three-and-a-half years. Former Marine and talk show host Montel Williams joins Hardball to tell us why he is advocating for Hekmati's release. Watch the video below:

Cast YOUR vote and don't be scared to share your opinion! Again, he is an American citizen!

I wonder if this is going to be used in the nuclear negotiations? Pretty good chip to play if I was Iran, especially seeing that we are open to trading more for less, like Bergdahl. There is a lot of pressure to get a deal done, wouldn't really surprise me to see the administration bend to Iran's will.

Like the Bergdahl situation, I personally believe he needs to be recovered. He is an American, a former Marine, and there is possible intelligence to be gathered.

Unfortunately, I could see that scenario playing out, thanks CSM (Join to see)!

We might be a lot further along in arrangements for his release if 47 Senators weren't busy pissing on everything the State Department was doing...

Should we use the Nuclear Agreement with Iran to get our marine home?

From Iran's perspective, the release of a former Marine is a small concession towards an agreement. Call it an act of faith or good will. I would suggest that his release be part of the negotiation process.
State Department wants the deal to happen, Iran wants the deal to happen, Halliburton, who sold them the technology in the first place, wants to see it happen.
Right now, there are only 3 global factions that are not interested in seeing a nuclear Iran: Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the American GOP. Given the gusto with which those three are willing to violate human rights, I honestly trust a nuclear Iran more.

he's been in an Iranian prison since 2011. Hillary AND Kerry have botched this. I doubt it's even on their radar.

TSgt John Dias,
If he is a CIA Asset (not unusual for former SMs), he is on their radar. It is also important that they don't make too big of an issue of getting him back. That's a piece that needs to be underplayed. If you go into a negotiation and give everything away, you are going to get screwed and no one leaves the deal happy.
The other thing is, he is held as a citizen, not a prisoner of war. He was a civilian in Iran, not a Soldier... The obligations of the commander in Chief change as a result.
