Would you consider distracted driving to be the new "Drunk Driving?"

Distracted driving injures more than 1,200 people and kills more than 15 people per day. What distracts you? Do you think distracted driving is the new drunk driving?

Ha very funny! This distracted driver distracts me when I look over and see this. Funny thing is that I don't think they crash a lot while doing this, they pretty much have it down pat.

Have you ever known someone that couldn't chew gum and walk at the same time?
I've ridden in vehicles where the driver was overly distracted complaining about another driver that was driving and texting.....to the point where they themselves were distracted driving!
Someone could be singing their favorite song and be distracted while others may have a better presence of mind and have the ability to drive and chew gum at the same time!
Not the same thing as drunk driving however in a broad definition, it has the potential to cause havoc as well.

A car is a 5000lbs bullet, it is a deadly weapon just like a fire arm. If one abuses the rules of the road people can die. I see people driving around all the time with their damn phone in front of them. This makes my blood boil.
When I was about 12 I saw a child get hit by a car, she was about 5 or 6 as I recall. She ran between two parked cars and was hit by a member of the state patrol. She needed to be transported by ambulance for medical care. It has something that has stayed with me.
The thought of killing someone because of bad driving habits disturbs me very much. I wish people would consider the impact that has on the lives of others as well as them self. Think of the guilt and self loathing a normal person would have.

I also think we drive distracted due to not knowing we are doing it. Is this the case when people drink and drive?.....Thoughts?

Our irresponsibility with technology has created this problem and only technology will solve it. Self-driving cars, deliver us from this scourge of our own making!
