Are people scared to speak their minds on RP because of the higher ranking military personnel that use this site aswell? It has very well turned into a debate chat room of sorts. I see alot of questions being thrown around about does rank play a role here or there? Does it and are you scared the wrong person may see your thread or take offense and find your superior.. There are those those few who do that Sort of thing.. Case in question PFC ask how to get his PLT SGT off his back..

I hope not SGT (Join to see) as I am genuinely interested in what everyone has to say, I am always respectful, and like when I was a Soldier, I learn a great deal from everyone. Rank does not give one a monopoly on the best ideas and opinions.
I hope with my response to the PFC about his PSG, I was not creating tension. That was not my intent.
But, if that is an issue, it is issue worth talking about.
I you guys want me and others banned from here, that is OK too.
But, we are all veterans...

I myself, have never ran into anyone being un professional on here towards myself or by anyone in the higher echelon if you will.. I do however know how one small thing can turn alot of Soldiers away.. Like I said its on FB of all places. I hope this site continues to be a source of goodness and great advice for those younger Soldiers when they feel they have nowhere left to turn.. I know i have been there young PV2 Holbrook thrown into the Special Operations community whew was that rough lol coming straight outta AIT. Anyways thats all this post was about. I know good people will respond and most of them higher ranking.. Hopefully they will see this question and all the answers and views and see this is a place to turn and that they can ask without ridicule. Thats all :)

I'm glad you posed this question after what has been going on lately. Without knowing specifics or taking sides, I saw that discussion you mentioned as a very young soldier asking for help. He didn't mention specifics or names, but asked a question that a person at his stage of his career would often do. To have someone report him to his CoC is very uncool. I would rather have that Private in my unit than the NCO. I am embarrassed of his behavior. So much for being a mentor and a leader. More like nah nah nah nah nah I'm gonna get you in trouble.....Lord help us.

That was my thought on it aswell, I would rather have a Soldier ask for help to fix an issue with him/herself than not try to fix it at all.. As I'm not sure the intention of the person that did what he did i can only hope it was good intentions, though the way he spoke about possibly being his PLT SGT seemed threatening in a way. I dunno hopefully young Soldiers continue to ask for help her when they feel they have nowhere to turn.

I know that folks saw what the NCO did as wrong...I think the name calling was wrong. I came from a different era in service where one didn't air unit or platoon or squad stuff online, on the other hand, the soldier worded it in a strange way that opened himself up to ridicule. I truly hope he didn't smoked and instead got some much needed constructive advice.

I see the mixing of ranks as a way to get guidance and knowledge for those with whom I would not normally converse. I would not normally have a conversation with a COL/Capt., a nominative CSM, or a GO. Here it is not only possible, but a regular occurrence.

Exactly SFC (Join to see) It is true for the lower enlisted as well. I am kind of an exception as I deal with CPT's, MAJ's, and LTC's on a regular basis. And on rare occasions COL's. But not to often usually when they come to visit and ask questions.
