What one habit from a deployment, did you bring home with you? What "thing" did you start to do while deployed that you continue out of habit since you've returned home.
For me, it's the habit right when the shower's over. I continue to habitually left one foot up and then the other, to drain the water out of my shower shoes. I'm not wearing shower shoes at home, but still catch myself doing this every day.

Yeah, we were building our house during my second deployment. At my deployment location we had shower/bathroom trailers and porta-potties. The porta-potties were closer to our tents so we used them instead of walking across base at night. Well, when I got home, our house was pretty much finished, but the construction crew left a porta-potty on our lawn. So guess what I did for old times sake?

I still carry water everywhere I go. That, and anger. It's gotten better with time, but I am definitely a more angry person than before I deployed.

I'm with you SSG Christopher Freeman , for me the slightest thing will set me off. My fuze is definitely shorter since I've come home.

Oh right there with you!!! I am such an easy going person, but I have noticed that with this last trip. We had one Soldier (got promoted to SSG while we were there) that drove me nuts every day. I volunteered to work with him all the time cause our others weren't crazy about him at all and I could handle his personality for the most part. Wasn't leaving my guys (males and females- don't have to particularly be in my squad) with him, without me being there to defend them. He wanted to do the wrong thing (take plates out of his IOTV, use one ground guide when it was put out multiple times to always use 2, go faster thAn what was said for our project site and no seatbelt when he hopped in equipment- but wanted to gripe if someone forgot their pt belt). I don't agree with that at all. If Soldiers need to do it, then Leaders need to set the example. I tried having conversation after conversation with him but it was like talking to a wall. If he needed something (even today) I would still help him if I could, no questions asked because he is a Soldier. He will not be getting invites to any function I decide to do civilian side however. He would talk down to our Soldiers but demand respect, I don't play that game either. Respect is a 2 way street ( yes you have to respect the rank, but personally, I'll take personal respect over respect for my rank anyway). He would try to play the part that he outranked me and that wasn't happening either. I will listen to anyone (rank doesn't matter) if they know more than me on a subject. But he didn't get that. I am pretty sure he is the reason that I can't stand "stupid" to this day. Not calling him stupid, but some of his actions were ridiculous and uncalled for. sorry thT you get angry more often but I Am also thankful that I am not he only one.
