CH (MAJ) (Join to see), doesn't work for me! I'm old school (retired) and would suggest a return to the old service cap and garrison cap (glider patch for airborne). Retain the berets for Special Forces and Rangers.

As Air Defense Artillery I think my Stetson could be gray or even tan. Since the wife and I ARE Cowboy/Cowgirl I have 10 Stetsons and they stay in the factory box, lined up on the top shelf in my "western closet". We are always on the go this time of year with competitions in Cutting, Reining and Roping. I wouldn't trade my "broke in" lariat for a 1972 F150 pickup. The tack room is lined around the wall with saddle racks. I have a Billy Cook cuttin saddle signed by Billy Cook that I bought new in Oklahoma City. I'm ready COL Curlee.

SGT Rick Ash, the service cap is the old bus driver hat and the garrison cap was called as you have suggested!

Civil war federal hat package
Erm, no. That has always been a Cav thing, might as well give the rest the Army forage caps.

We had the tri-cornered hats before that. While we're at it, we can return to wool uniforms and standing collars. LOL. Hard to go much more traditional than that!!!

My feelings are that when we are talking about budget crisis and personnel cuts, I would rather not spend money on uniform changes that are not necessary. Ditch the ACU, that's fine. But there is no need to change a uniform that just changed 5 years ago because there's a "new dog in the yard".

At this point, I think that part of the Army's morale problem is that it is changing so rapidly that the Soldiers are losing a sense of being a part of history, a part of a tradition, and a member of an organization that has more than 200 years of dedicated service to the American people.

I've been in for 7+ years now, and we have changed our combat uniforms, our PT uniforms (twice), our dress uniforms, our headgear, regulations on the combat patch, and a variety of other things. Some of these changes, like the camouflage, were necessary. Others didn't have a significant impact on budgets (like the beret). But at this point, I think we need to be focusing on much more important things like identifying morale problems and working towards solutions on dealing more effectively with Soldiers that are posting pictures of themselves "thugged out", flashing gang signs, dealing drugs (and talking about it on Facebook) while in the military, rape cultures, the suicide trend, the problems with retention.

There are so many other things to focus on. I think I'd say "Let's roll with what we've got at this point and hit the next point on the agenda."
