When I initially joined I took the DLAB, back in 2010, and scored a 117. I was told this was a pretty good score, but never had or took advantage of any classes requiring the DLAB. Is there anything in the civilian world that uses this score? Was it a wasted opportunity?

Government jobs/federal jobs, nothing that I know of in civilian sector. When i was applying with FBI, I had to take the test again.

Have you checked with the Department of State? They do a lot of language training for their overseas positions ...

Yes! Some colleges will accept your scores and transfer them into college semester hours towards your foreign language requirements or electives. Every college/university is different.
