In accordance with Federal Law, only Citizens of the United States can be granted a Commission in the Armed Forces. I served and retired at a senior grade, and therefore have a DD Form 2, yes the Retired ID. In light of these facts, is my Retired ID proof of my citizenship?

Proof for what purpose? Government agencies requiring proof of citizenship normally list the acceptable forms of identification. The standard is often a US Passport. It’s harder to fake than the laminated ID cards. CAC with chip are more secure.

No, because it is a reference document. Most government entitles require the source document to validate your citizenship.

Sgt (Join to see) - He is not trying to prove citizenship, he is trying to argue his ID is proof.

The Specialist is correct. It's kind of a philosophical argument, anyway.

Lt Col Timothy Cassidy-Curtis - It may be a philosophical argument but your retired ID is no good to prove your citizenship.

SP5 Peter Keane - You can argue that it is proof but it will not count for anywhere where you need to prove your citizenship.
