UPDATED, check comments

so I have been doing some research and have spoken to many recruiters and military police. I mostly hear I need to stay out of trouble and get a 31/91 on the ASVAB. Is there anything else I missing or any advice you guys might have or anything you think I should know before joining? I'm also doing some fitness training with a coach of mine.

Not much, it's kind of the bottom of the Air Force barrel... I'd find something better while you still have the time. Why waste your life scanning ID cards at a gate for years?

SFC Michael Hasbun As SFC Hasbun stated below...usually the Sec Forces career field is filled with what is leftover and those that wash out of other career fields and or come in with no idea of what they want to do due to the low level ASVAB score and high need. I was a recruiting commander for two years and a I saw the numbers. Not that being a Sec Forces person is a bad thing but just go into it with eyes wide open. You will be guarding planes and missiles in Minus 30 degree weather or perimeter security downrange in extreme heat or cold. Or you could be checking id's at the gate or vehicle search area. Security Forces in the Air Force eat their own as well...tow the line at all times. NOW with all that being said there are a lot of opportunities in SF...you can go be a raven (elite sec forces member that goes into hostile areas and protects aircrew and aircraft and escorts high level prisoners), you can be patrol which will give you experience that will be advantageous down the road...advancement for you will be on you with testing as scores are usually less than others in AF...I just want you to go in eyes wide open.

UPDATE: so I talked to some security forces units and I believe I'll just join security forces and go up the ranks and make a living out of it. if you wish to continue talking to me, reach me at my email( [login to see] .k12.wi.us). last thing, can you do boot camp between junior year summer and senior year? just curious and what rank would I be afterwards( airmen of course) but is it different for SF.
ta ta,
jay
