Roll up as is and get one issued from supply (depending on your new unit it may not be in MCSS as is the case with my current joint unit) or try to look all highspeed and pick one up from clothing and sales. Either way, I genuinely don't think anybody will say anything, and S4/J4 should give you whatever you need either way (patch, unit awards, pt belt, unique uniform, get cetera). Either way, good luck at your new unit!

Why do you need to wait until the unit provides patches? I would imagine they are sold at clothing and sales.

Two questions:
1) Why would he wear the patch of the unit he was about to join before joining the unit. That is just as much a violation of the uniform regulations as wearing the patch of the unit he just left. Personnel in transient status are not assigned to a unit while in transit.
2) Why would you expect a junior enlisted person to spend money to buy something that their unit is required to provide? Depending on the unit and the location, the patch may or may not be "sold at clothing sales" - but the patch is an issue item just like any other piece of organizational equipment.

MSG Thomas Currie - People notice people that are assertive and take care of themselves and they also notice people that wait for you to do it. I would never expect a junior enlisted to buy anything that the government should provide but I would encourage them to spend a little bit of their money and time to stand out as assertive enough to take their own career into their own hands. No one is going to do it for you.

MAJ Byron Oyler - That's a great tap-dance but I don't see what it had to do with your original post suggesting that an Air Force E-4 should run to find a clothing sales store to buy a unit patch before actually arriving at the new unit, when he will be issued that same patch during in-processing
