Had the opportunity to run the Run Amuck (Marine Corps Marathon Series) today.

They had a 2 and 4 mile course with about 25~ obstacles (some obstacles were as simple as 5 push-ups, or flutter kicks) on MCB Quantico.

Race whether was about 80+ degrees at start and over 90 at finish. Nice hot day. By the time wife and I finished up, we were soaked and covered in mud, and thoroughly nasty.

It's a great inexpensive race for those in the DC area.

Hey Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS you should have taken some pictures at the end to share with the group. Sounds like an awesome run!

We usually do, however with mud runs, we worried about destruction of the phones during the obstacles. There were a few slips and bruises (nothing major).

That said, here are some from the official flickr account:

COL Mikel J. Burroughs You might like the Spartan or Tough Mudder series. Both are outstanding, and offer discounted entries for those that volunteer. There is also the Warrior Dash series, but I don't know if that goes all the way to CA.

I'll do some research online to see if there is anything like that here close to Camp Pendleton or down around the harbor in San Diego, CA
