TVs Mike Rowe of "Dirty Jobs" fame looks for the dirtiest jobs in America. Occasionally he visits the military branches. In your opinion, what isthe DIRTIEST job - the absolutely dirtiest grimy job in the military? Why is it the dirtiest?

I know that being a mechanic can be rough and dirty at times, especially during a deployment when your working 12 on and 12 off trying to keep convoys and security teams on the road. Burning crap is one of the worst details to be on as well.

When I was in Iraq 2003, our unit, burned the waste in our camp with diesel. It was necessarily because we had no lateines/showers during the war.

"Burning S$^$&^& in the desert" was the first thing I though of as well, however as PO2 Skip Kirkwood mentioned, the Navy has some jacked up jobs.

MAJ Ken Landgren One nice thing about Stirring #%^# pots. No one screws with you or tells you you're doing a bad job. Last thing they want is to end up "giving an hour of instruction on the proper methodology." Actually, I think that was the only nice thing...

SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL, Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS, and MAJ Ken Landgren, that is a time-honored detail duty -- one I avoided getting stuck with at Warrior Base while my battalion was there for our turn patrolling the DMZ (back in '78).

It is also the origin of the the term "getting on the first sergeant's s*** list" -- unless the company had run out of troublemakers doing penance, burning the (sort of) solid waste was *not* a regular detail.
