What's the best place for veterans to live - 2015?

According to Military Times, these are the top 4 places for veterans to live. What say you, RallyPoint veterans?

LTC Jason Strickland I'm sorry but I don't believe that San Diego, CA should be in the top (4) unless you are a General or Admiral! I'm a Colonel and I have a great paying civilian job, but I'm leaving in poverty. The cost of housing is ridiculous! I apologize in advance if I 've offended any of my San Diego, CA brothers and sisters, but its just too expensive. Beautiful city and beautiful coastline, but over the top expensive! Colorado Springs is my actual pick. I have a home that I lease in Castle Rock, CO. Great motorcycle (Harley) location for veterans and there are several bases to doing your shopping at within decent driving range.

Its really great to see the different places in our great country to live as a veteran, but to me anyone of these places would be outstanding. The only problem I can see is in the veteran that is looking for the right place to live. As a veteran, one can call any place home and live out there life, the only good place in life to live is the place that you fill happy inside and out. If you fill as a veteran that you are very happy where you are and you have all you need in the place you are, well then you can say you found the place in life that you are truly happy living in, other wise one must just keep looking. Now on the other hand, there are those veteran's that really don't have a choice in the matter because of one thing or another and well all we can do as veteran's is just be there for them in support to at least try to bring some kind of joy in there life..

Nowhere in California is good for a person on a limited or fixed income. The only saving grace is the climate (that's weather - the political climate is certainly not to the liking of most veterans). So, how did San Diego find itself near the top of the list?

I'm terrified of sharks. I find Tucson, AZ very accomodating to my completely justifiable and 100% rational fears. Now all terrorizing images aside, I have to say it depends a lot on what individual states offer and what our future goals are. Oregon will pay 100% tuition for my spouse and children to go to college thru the masters level (due to my current status). I have 3 kids and that isn't chicken feed. But I got a bottle thrown at me in Eugene, OR just because I was in uniform. They burnt down the NG Armor 6 times during the Vietnam War. Now that I'm old and yell at kids to get off my lawn, I am interested in moving to Saipan or Guam, just to live in the middle of nowhere with nothing going on. To me, that is abslute boring, ecstatic, tranquility and bliss.

SFC Mark Merino, as a 100% disabled vet, once you live in Alabama for 5 years, your wife and kids can go to college for free (and automatic acceptance to Auburn). Just a little FYI...

I loved Tucson when I was stationed at DM for 5 years. I'd move back there, very military friendly place.

I believe that Tucson is 3rd worst city in the US for employment (according to all the campaign signs posted around here at least). They love us military people because they can count on steady payments, but employment sucks. Can't wait to seek life elsewhere.

I lived in Colorado for a time and it certainly seems to belong well-represented on this list. It's only failing is that although the cost of living is reasonable, the wages are not competitive with most of the country (at least the civilized parts of it). However, if you're living on an adequate pension, I'd recommend it. Just stock up well for the winter so you don't have to go out in the snow (except to play). Oh, and take lots of skin moisturizer. The low relative humidity will dry out your skin. Then there are the static electric shocks. They're annoying but will defibrillate your heart when needed.
