What a cluster this ACFT has been. I have to think the initial roll out of it was a strong bullet on an evaluation for very influential Sr. Leaders in the Army.

Yesterday I took a diagnostic ACFT with the new gender/age based standards. I could barely pass it before, but after yesterday day I came away knowing I totally have this now. So I got to wondering if those responsible for the ACFT got follow up evaluation bullet comments long after legislative involvement.

I can see it now.
Possible original bullet comment:
o - Created and Rolled out new Army wide MOS driven fitness standard that greatly enhances fitness readiness for the fighting force.

Did they get a follow up bullet for a referred evaluation. Even flagged soldiers of failed APFT/ACFT with referred evaluations because of the failure don’t result in congressional inquiries.

Possible follow up bullet comment:
o - Responsible for implementing excessively costly fitness standards resulting in legislative involvement retracting MOS driven standards which resulted in greatly reducing the fighting force’s fitness metrics across the entire Army.

Hell in 83 and 1990, I had the same Officer, who at the age of 44 (COL) could smoke any 18 yr. old in the unit- Airborne and did max their PT test and scores

SGM, I knew a COL/BDE Commander 8 years ago that age that could run the 2 mile in under 13 and max the pushups and situps. He is now a MG. Only 2% of COL make it to 1 star so he is amazing. He is a down to earth 2 Star and I still read his facebook posts.

I guess we have a handful of Captain America's that did Max the new Army Combat fitness test. They are animals and should be commended. Out of the military worries about the retention. I would say go back to the APFT and use the acft when your training are go to combat. If you've got one month or two at the mobilization station or whatever they used to call it power projection platform, then I would say focus on that but all they're going to do is hurt their attention numbers and I'm sure that all the services are hurting.

My comments are sarcastic. They are based on what happened before they made amendments to the acft. I passed the acft at age 58 and it was easier than I thought. But I couldn't brag because a year-and-a-half before, I got a 299 on my very last a PFT in 2019 and I only missed maxing the Run by 7 Seconds.

Before you could brag about maxing the PT test. What I was 34 I did 317 extended scale. Now, you can brag that you just passed it

I think the intent of the original test is valid, but maybe our attention to line scores is our downfall. The failure rate for males at the end was around 7%, mostly on the run, which should have been easier. But it was working for male soldiers. maybe go to a go/no go evaluation like the Navy with a bullet comment if one did well.
I don't feel that those that developed the test did think about a training program that was aimed at this test.I still feel that the female failure rates is largely because the Army has a rather crappy training program for men and it translated to failures for the women. Instead of looking at training, they panicked and lowered the standards on the test.
