Since being home from active duty and now no longer serving at all i have been through alot of depressing moments, and so far being home makes me wish i would have stayed in active duty. How have your experience been since being home, because for me i was a mechanic when i served but now in the real world i don' t want to do any mechanic wirk anymore.

Use your Post 9/11 GI Bill and go back to school. They literally pay you to learn. Plus you can get a Pel Grant and that's MORE free money. All the while you're learning something and possibly a new trade if you're going to a Trade or Technical school.

i used my chpt 30 for technical training in a/c repair and recieved my degree in general studies, I actually enjoyed my job when i was in but i was also treated like a competent adult who knew what i was doing. In this field they don't understand all i am capable of doing.

SPC Chris Early, unfortunately I've found that's pretty much how it is in Civilian World. They only care that you can perform the job you were hired for. A lot of places like to say they promote from within, but it's rare that they actually do (in my experience anyway).

Just like when I ETS'ed you are going to have to find something that interests you, that you CAN do as a civilian. If you don't want to be a mechanic any more, then you might check with Security companies where your Military background would be an advantage.
Or, if you can't find anything you want to do, have you thought about going back to school to learn a new trade, or going back to the Military in a new MOS?

All great points. Since my ETS, my true passions, IT, music production, and fitness, have been the only things I've needed to stay grounded. Use that GI Bill for a degree and/or certification. You learned more than your MOS, I'm sure. Maybe you should see if you can translate anything on your VMET or JST to your resume.

im waiting on a response from ASE on transfering my experience, ive already been to a trade school for heating and cooling , that didn't work out well. Also went to college and recieved my degree but still lost on what i would want to do( a passion) in which i would be happy because its not just about a paycheck but about being happy doing whatever.

SPC Chris Early - Maybe it's time to say, "What do I want from my Life?" If you are unmarried and have no large commitments this is YOUR time !! Think about what you enjoy doing. Would you rather work with people all the time, or not at all? Do you want to work indoors, outdoors or a little of both? Do you want to work with your hands, work with computers, play music or something else? The point is that nothing is beyond you !! Don't let yourself down by not doing what you can, while you have the chance to do it.

You've got to have a hobby you can earn money doing. I hope you didn't pay for that experience transfer. There are reps in many organizations that would help you with that for free -WWP is one of them.

I take it one day at a time and refuse to live in the past. I acknowledge what is important in life, try to keep positive of significant goals, and helping veterans with obtaining more funds and PTSD help is a homerun.
