Back in 1996 I wanted to go active so bad that when they told me they did not have a medic slot (I was prior service), I took what they offered. it did not go well, and I ended up being chaptered for APFT failure. Seven years later I commissioned into the nurse corps where I belonged and retired 18years later.

I loved being a medic, but I could never make SGT. I loved being a 12B, but I could never make SGT. Of course, looking back, I know why I never made SGT within my first 10 years. After a 5.5 year break of extracting my cranium from my fourth point of contact and reclassing to Preventive Medicine, going from SPC to MSG in 14 years....I think I made the right choice.
