Are you part of a family tradition of military service?

Are you the lone service member in the family or are you a part of a long family tradition? My dad went through the Merchant Marine Academy but didn’t go active duty Navy. Grandpa was a Corporal during WWII and did time on various pacific islands including Guam. I could never finagle any war stories out of grandpa but I know his family served in the military as well. Anyone else have pictures of family in uniform and want to share their military experiences?

A family tradition. 3x Great Grandfather on Mom's side was Union Soldier. Grandfather, Father, 3 Uncles, 2 Cousins, and Brother served.

LTC Trent Klug - makes sense. Okinawa hates the American military outnumbering them. They’re like the Seattle of Japan. Can’t stand outside influence yet can’t make it without outsider $$$. Once the military pulls out they won’t be able to protest 24/7 like they do to extort Japanese hush money year after year.

PO3 Edward Riddle it was at one time. Seems that tradition is likely to end with my generation. Time will tell though.

Definitely a tradition at my end. Goes as far back as the 14th century for sure. Wouldn't surprise me if later it's proven to go back to the 12th century.

SFC Mark Merino Actually, no. I'm not the first amateur genealogist in the family, and as I've written in a separate binder much of what I know is a result of other people in the family figuring things out, but at least one or two professional genealogists contributed their finds.
So the pictures, other than the portraits of Henry and Alex Dearborn, all came from a family binder my grandfather made in 1970.
