2LT with about 4.5 years in, with 4 of those years getting E3, E4, and cadet. I plan to ride out the 20 years, mainly because you cant beat tricare over anything else. Here's the scenario:
20 years purely M-day without any deployments or rotations (to be conservative) and the only "active duty" time i get was BCT/AIT, BOLC, CCC, and maybe ILE...
I was told that once I REFRAD at 20 years, i will get a very small stipend equivalent to a MUTA 4 drill weekend every month until I'm 60, which then I'll get the active duty pension. I was also told I can continue to pay tricare reserve select until I'm 60 and then get the free tricare. By 6 years TIS, ill be eligible for the VA home loan (again, no deployments to be conservative)
Is there anything else I may be missing or mislead? This information came from our brigade recruiting and retention NCO. I appreciate your help!

There is no pay between the time you retire and turning 60. You will receive retirement pay when you reach 60 based on the points calculation of a reservist, yrs and rank. Tricare is not free, there is a premium until you reach 65. When you retire Tricare for retirees kicks in at 60 (Prime or Select). At 65 you must enroll in Medicare and you will be switched over to Tricare for life (no premiums) as your secondary.
To figure your actual retirement pay will depend greatly what year you retire and points accumulated. There will be Cola’s every year that will affect the amount.

My whole career was Reserve. Got my 20yr letter, then had to wait until 60yrs old to start drawing my pension. I was ok with that, was my plan, had my own business. As I live in Denmark, I can't use most of the other benefits. That is about all I know.

The only "free" TriCare is the TriCare for Life, but you have to have Medicare Part A and pay for Part B. TriCare for Life (free) is basically Medicare Part D (drugs). You need to run the numbers, but nearer to retirement as the system will surely undergo changes (most likely give you less while charging you more). If you have a VA disability, VA essentially reimburses Medicare for stuff associated with the disability, if you do non MIL hospital routes. Once you draw Social Security, the Medicare Part B is automatically deducted and medical again appears "free", but you're really paying for it through reduced benefit. A couple of corrections. Medicare and VA don't mix, You either use VA, which pays for everything, or if you don't use VA Medical, you get standard Medicare. If you are over 50% Disability where there is no co-pay or out of pocket, and you have reasonable distance to one of the medical centers, for me it was a no brainer. Even if you are on VA community care, it comes out of VA's pocket.
