According to an e-mail I received from the VA:

"A Historic Success for Veterans Service
This week, we reduced the disability claims backlog to A Historic Success for Veterans Service
This week, we reduced the disability claims backlog to 98,535 claims - an 84% reduction from its peak and a historic low. This reduction means that Veterans' disability claim decisions are being delivered more accurately and efficiently. The faster Veterans receive completed claim decisions, the quicker they can access the benefits they are entitled to.

As we mark this important milestone in VA's history, we commit to continuing our efforts to improve. We will never waiver in our dedication to providing the best possible service to Veterans, Servicemembers, their families, and Survivors. - an 84% reduction from its peak and a historic low. This reduction means that Veterans' disability claim decisions are being delivered more accurately and efficiently. The faster Veterans receive completed claim decisions, the quicker they can access the benefits they are entitled to.

Is only being nearly 100,000 claims in the hole something you brag about...especially when it seem that the number one reason the work load has decreased is because the Veterans are now deceased...still waiting on their claim...and we cannot trust the number until we find out how many files have been 'misplaced' or used to start their monthly bon fires?

Sir, sometimes the choice is between laughing and crying. I always try to go with laughing.

That's like saying our offense can make it to our own 20 yard line.

I saw this too and my immediate reaction was: "Denying, shredding, and delaying claims isn't what it takes to reduce the backlog of claims!"

I apologize in advance for bringing politics into this, but this is on scale with the Obama administration saying that unemployment is down because less people are applying for unemployment benefits. That's because they've been unemployed for so long they don't qualify for unemployment anymore!
