This report speaks to a $335 million dollar power plant we built in Afghanistan that is only producing about 2% power. While the emphasis was on the plant being under utilized, if you were familiar with the project, where is the shortcoming on making this plant more useful?

I was involved in some power generation efforts in the Kandahar area, but not this one.

If they aren't using this power plant, then where are they getting the power from?

If this is operating at 2% power and there is enough power then perhaps they shouldn't have built it.

We spent a lot of money over there on things that the Afghans neither needed nor wanted.

What are they supposed to power with it anyway?

A common argument from me is our country's demand to force our way of living upon other countries. We seem to think that they haven't existed all these years on their own.

Sgt Spencer Sikder - Kabul is a different animal than Kandahar, but I still think that there was not some huge deficit of power in the area. Why did they need to build another power plant.

And these power plants were mostly diesel fired, and the Afghans would rather steal the fuel than use it to generate power they didn't need.
