It's called fear-mongering. In the past they were attempting to get emotional support from the gen-pop for something that wasn't going to happen. Most of those scientists are paid with tax payer money through study grants. They have a vested interest in getting paid. I remember the 70's and the ice-age scare that was being foisted onto the people. I also remember just a few years ago they were stating that the hurricanes will get worse and become more frequent. When was the last hurricane that hit the US?

"So global cooling predictions in the 70s amounted to media and a handful of peer reviewed studies. The small number of papers predicting cooling were outweighed by a much greater number of papers predicting global warming due to the warming effect of rising CO2. "

A lot of people, including scientists, made a lot of money off, "global cooling"; it turned out to be bullshit. A lot of people, including scientists, made a lot of money off, "global warming"; it turned out to be bullshit. Now they are calling it, "climate change", so that no matter which way the the natural temperature cycles, they can say it's a imminent problem and make money off it. Don't you believe it.

Some ideologues "playing scientist" would have us believe so, but the data does not back their claims.
