What qualifications should a candidate possess before he becomes President? One I can think of is: Previous service in the military preferably in a command/leadership position. Anybody got any other ideas for qualifications?

Thank you for your support. Now if you and the rest of my friends will only find the rest of my posts and vote me up I might just make the cutoff for points.

You raise a very good question. Too many citizens do no consider this question when they cast their vote. Too many are only concerned with what the political candidate can do for them, and they are willing to believe the rhetoric above facts. I think all citizens should have to serve in the military after high school or college.
Although military commanders are great leaders, it should not disqualify others that did not serve in a command capacity. I do think that a person running for president should have knowledge of the government and be able to show leadership ability and a sense of patriotism.
I have always said, show me a politician that is willing to admit things are bad and they do not have all the answers, and I will vote for that person. Too many times politicians feel they have to have a solution to everything and thus we end up with broken promises, monumental mistakes, and lack of accountability.

Politicians, especially those seeking office of president should be honest, accountable, and have no conflicts of interest. Ok, that disqualifies all of the politicians in Washington.

We as American citizens should become more educated about government. After all, it doesn't matter the qualifications of the person running if the electorate is blind. A more educated and active populace will help eliminate those who are full of it.

The electorate college needs to be eliminated and replaced with the actual vote count, then, will all of our votes really matter. The system is not fair if a candidate can win the office and lose the popular vote, as has happened in the past.

Is it any more fair to foist a candidate on the 49% who didn't vote for him/her?

Qualifications? From what I have seen lately, what a person needs is, is the support of the media. Forget if a person has the experience, morality or meets the Constitutional requirements?

I didn't bother reading all the responses so maybe this was already addressed. It is not that McCain is not eligible, it is simply that the SCOTUS has not ruled directly on this issue in the Constitution. Were it to rule on it, there is no doubt that McCain and those like him would be eligible to serve. And I don't know what the deal is with Cruz. Is he another military brat? If so, he would be eligible as well.

No Sir,

He was born in Canada, the son of a Cuban businessman and an U.S. mother. He seems to be a good man and is a U.S. citizen, but does not meet the requirement to run for the office of President...but of course that does not mean he will not or that the majority of our fellow citizens will have any idea why a few of us oppose his running.

You didn't answer the question.

You initiated this whole topic of conversation through innuendo and insinuation. If you want to blow your dog whistle, expect a bark back.

I am sorry if you took offense to the tin foil hat wearing birthers comment, but your retort was unnecessary; as I am neither weak minded nor is it a weak argument. You are making loose accusations that have been proven time and again to be false. Your interpretation of Art 2 of the Constitution in regards to Senator Cruz is wrong; the SCOTUS made the president when deciding if Senator McCain was eligible to run. You sir are making the weak arguments.

So back to my original statement; answer the questions. They are simple questions: Yes or No.

Do you think the President is legally qualified to serve as the Commander in Chief?

Do you think the President is a native born citizen?

Or, are you worried that your opinion will get you in trouble? If you truly believe he isn’t qualified to be your CINC then you need not worry because if he isn’t your CINC then he cannot administer punishment on you and all the officers appointed over you have been erroneously commissioned and or promoted, so they have not authority over you either.

If you want to make loose innuendos at least have the fortitude to stand up for your position.

Unfortunately the innuendos and accusations you are lobbing have all been debunked. The Barry Soretos one is so old I had to look it up to refresh myself with the false outrage. The whole Columbia University ID card is a fake. It has been proven so. But, if you repeat a lie often enough it may become true, right?

You make these allegations that "the other party was willing and able to ignore the law of the land". While you don't come right out and say that the President is not qualified to serve, you make it clear how you think.

In closing you should answer the questions and stop being a paper tiger.

Do you think the President is legally qualified to serve as the Commander in Chief?

Do you think the President is a native born citizen?

Is he legally qualified to serve as Commander and Chief. Yes.

I think that there is enough evidence that he was legally adopted by Lolo Soetoro and Ann Dunham Soetoro and that the adoption made Barry a Indonesian citizen. I have never seen anything showing him reestablishing US citizenship. Of course, no one really seems to care about this so I guess it has been settled.

I am not worried my opinion will get me in trouble and even if it did I would not stop me from stating the truth. At least some still want know the truth?
