Ignorant question. But is there usually a limited number of guests a SM can bring to a military ball? I am considering bringing Mom, Dad, and my wife to this year's 241st Army Birthday Ball here in Sindlefingen, Germany. My brother will most likely be TDY here during that time as well. Please don't break my mothers heart, haha. I assume as long as I purchase the right amount of tickets ahead of time, then there should be no problem. Should I just talk with AUSA or the MWR?

SFC (Join to see) - I believe that the best course of action is to ask the organizer/sponsor of the Ball.

Thank you, Sir. Just have to ask around, not sure who it would be at my unit. Feeling impatient.

SFC (Join to see) Check with the Senior Enlisted Adviser (1SG or CSM). They normally can point you in the right direction for this.

SFC (Join to see) - If your unit is sponsoring the Ball, I would ask your 1SGT/CSM. If it is a community event, I would ask the organizer/sponsor. Of course, asking both is also an option.

It depends on the ball. USUALLY the ones I've been to have been +1 only. Meaning you and a date. Even when people I've worked with have wanted to bring others, they usually had them be a friend's "date" to come. Could be that's just the Navy and Marine Corps, but I've never seen anyone bring their parents. Your brother would be more likely normal especially if he came as someone's date.

If that's the case, I could probably have my mom come as my brother's date. I'd have to find somebody for my Dad, haha.

SFC (Join to see) yeah, don't take my word for it though, especially since this is a unique situation. I'd take COL Jean (John) F. B. 's advice and contact the organizer.

Yes, sir. I'm not going to jump to any conclusions until I get an official word.

the Organizer is the appropriate person to contact, as there may be a limited space available, thereby, a limit on the number of people that can be invited.

My parents were visiting me in Italy and I took them to my ball, along with a date. Just contact your unit coordinator and confirm space.
