What, in your opinion, is a good strategic language choice for post-military life? Is Chinese a good thing to study, or does Spanish make more sense? Are there other possibilities, like Arabic? Please weigh in and say why you think your choice is most advantageous!

Chinese is always good. Spanish and Arabic are also good, IMO. Can't go wrong with Spanish really ... Could be the second official language of the USA.

I'd rather think of myself in my glory days, SFC William Laws, but I'll post something relatively soon.

SrA Andrea West it really depends. What do you want to do with your life? Are you looking to go overseas? What is spoken most in the area that you are either going to be working or that people working with you speak? If going up by Canada on the east side it would be French, but down south it would be Spanish.

For use inside the US, you can't go wrong with Spanish, or even Arabic. Outside the US, French, Arabic, Farsi, Russian, Japanese, or Chinese.

Spanish is probably the second most popular language inside the states. French is the "diplomatic" language of the world. The rest are just hugely advantageous in their own right.
