Jp militias master675
Facing a fierce Taliban offensive across a corridor of northern Afghanistan, the government in Kabul is turning to a strategy fraught with risk: forming local militias and beseeching old warlords for military assistance, according to Afghan and Western officials.

Afghanistan, Warlords, and Taliban.
What could possibly go wrong?
Think we should send them some Stingers or something?

No, not at all is this a good thing, especially when the warlords start turning on each other and/or forming alliances potentially against the elected government. Does the Horn of Africa ring any bells?

it is irrelevant. They both have the same Islamic ideology. This is just tribal. I say let them kill each other off. Saves us the blood and bullets.

Afghans form militias and call on warlords to battle Taliban. In the long run, is this a good or a bad thing?

GySgt Wayne A. Ekblad, Sounds to me like they are reverting back to their pre-9/11 ways.

Nothing but trouble waiting to happen with that. That essentially regresses Afghan to where it was when the Taliban took over. The Graveyard of Empires, to be sure.

It's a great thing, but given the shifting loyalties of the Afghans who knows where this will go. Remember who let Bin Laden get away?

Not sure if this is a good or a bad thing, one thing I do know is that when our forefathers came here they left behind problems that were hundreds of years old in the European, Asian, and African continents. Cultural, class, and ethnic differences that they are still battling with today. It's sad but I see no immediate remedy to fix these other world problems. We here in the United States have that supreme advantage to get over our differences because they are not so ingrained in out history. I love this country only because I see how good we have it and the opportunities to be ourselves in the free nation. I have seen the children of those countries that have nothing, dirt floors, local enemies, little food, corrupt politicians, rich, poor and no middle class and no hope. We still have serious problems in this country but I see that we have time and room to correct it to where they do not. I am grateful to God and this country that I am able to raise my family, love my wife and children without EXTREME fear.

They need to do something they need to take control of there county. They need to be more and we need to be less. If that is what there government wants to do then great. We need to stay clear Warlords, Taliban that can get messy fast.
