I would just like to say that you should definitely go around calling everyone, and I do mean everyone, "legs" if and or when you gt to said unit. I would love to hear how that works out for you, private.

SGT Joseph Gunderson - I have a fear of fire. Everytime I set myself afire on the 4th of July, I was afraid. But the girls thought I was smoking hot (literally).

SGT Joseph Gunderson - Two things; first the possible need to put boots on ground in a heart beat is something that will never go away, therefore the need for Airborne units will never go away. Second, the standards in an airborne unit regardless of what MOS's are simply head and shoulders above that of non airborne personnel. This is a unit standard but more so it is a community standard, one we hold ourselves to internally. As far as when was the last time airborne units were used? Since 2001 when Ranger Battalion jumped into Afghanistan there have been seven combat airborne operations and those don't include the ones completed by SF that you will never hear about unless you are in that community.

SGT Joseph Gunderson - I think SGT Aric Lier was just pulling your string Joe - and it seems he hit a little nerve. Inflated egos in the infantry is pretty much a given, par for the course, but the ego needs to be earned first. Gotta admit - I chuckled when Aric said "shut up leg" - a little humor goes a long way.

Leg, LEG....Jump School is not for everyone, not for the faint of heart, or those that just choose to well, stay a Leg.

nope - you only get to wear it in assigned Airborne units. think of it this way - A soldier goes to ranger school - graduates, but goes to , say the 101st airborne division - he can wear the short tab on his shoulder, but the scroll and tan beret are only for the assigned Ranger Battalions. BTW - very funny - "leg unit" from a troop that hasn't got his wings yet. I would be careful using that until you've done your 5.

SSG Duke Allen - gonna date myself - but I was in when BDU's were jungle/forest pattern - and if the Commander so stated - you COULD roll your sleeves - but the boonie - nope - it would be sensible, since when is the Army sensible?

I guess what ever head gear the unit is wearing would what you'll have to use.
