After being referred back to MEB via profile, I was told the following day that I couldn't proceed further and had to ETS. Can I fight this?

Been on profile for almost 5 years. I have an appt with MEB legal next week

It depends if you already have orders to ETS. Check with personnel and ask your chain of command the reasoning. I suspect a medical recommendation and a personnel decision has already been made to have you ETS. You can call the IG and talk with them.

I haven't begin the process for clearing so I doubt orders have been cut. I've been back and forth with the MEB process since March

AR 635-40 (as of 2019).
IF you’re in the PEB or later part of the DES, you are protected with ETP to extend only for medical. If it has not started (just got referred, in medical appointments, MEB stage) request for ETP to extend till your DES is complete.
BUT failure to elect; will not cease the process; and can be ETS.
