Sgt Nick Walsh: I applied for and received my retirement pay: once I retired from the Army. I was twenty-five years old.

As a reservist or national guard personnel, don’t wait until filling out retirement paperwork to verify earned points (recorded). Verify annually, the previous year. Get all discrepancies resolved ASAP. The longer you wait to correct, the harder it is to get it recorded properly.

After serving on Active duty 12 years, then switching to the National Guard and retiring, at what age can I apply for retirement pay?

Do it at least 90 days before your 60th Birthday so you can get it on your 60 th Birthday.

Submit your application for retired pay at least 9 months prior to age 60
