Since I arrived at my new duty station, I have heard several SMs discussing the new PT uniform. Some of these discussions have been in passing, and I did not even know them. But I am surprised that the vast majority are against the new look. What are your thoughts?

They are wasting money on these unnecessary uniform changes and increasing costs for Soldiers. The gray uniform was a HUGE improvement over the prior crap they called a uniform. I don't understand why every couple of years someone decides to change uniforms just to do it. No Private Snuffy has to go out have spend more money...

It's like we have waged a war of fashion against the enemy in the hopes that our updated fashion actually comes with benefit. I'm hoping I never have to buy this one.

The stock material of the new PT uniform is not a significant upgrade to justify the cost associated with the cost. A grey PT shirt identical to the new black one could have been offered as this seems to be the O lyrics significant material change and it's now optional and not issued with the new uniform. At over 10 million to change out uniforms this is a gross waste of money. The black pants are identical minus that stupid logo that cost more and prevents even the slightest monetary cost for both the army and soldiers that now have to completely change uniforms. Officers over the last 10 years have had to pay for 4 uniform changes to include this one without any compensation. A first year enlisted member that graduates basic training has grey puts that will have to be replaced the first year clothing allowance will not cover the cost of a single complete summer and winter PT set. This was unneeded and epidemic of the waste of taxpayers money and irresponsible leaders that don't do the math on how the cost are burdened on their junior officers and enlisted.

Why are reflective belts, and soldier safety such an issue to everyone and their mother, when they just made the whole uniform black anyways? Did I miss something? Please just bring back the plain old light grey sweats back. We seriously don't need a uniform fashion show every couple of years.

Change is the only constant in the military. Being able to embrace change without shedding tears is a valuable life skill in this profession.

Aesthetics wise I think they're an improvement. I've also never found the current APFU to fit all that well, so hopefully that has improved as well. Being ARNG chances are it'll be the wear-out date or after before we see them.

I don't really care about the change, although I find it ridiculous that once again we have a PT uniform with an integrated reflective strip, and we still wear the reflective belt over it.

Black is supposed to be a slimming color, maybe we are just trying to hide our obesity :)

From what I read I like the new design I was not a fan of the want to be turtle neck on the long sleeve shirt. I liked the black and grey color scheme but black and yellow are fine too.

What about the insulation between the two?

It has been a while since I wore my pt uniform other than the t-shirt around the house or to sleep in. Therefore, I do not have an opinion on the insulation.
