I missed four Christmases, countless birthdays, and 12 of 15 anniversaries. But Thanksgiving was the worst. The Army would put out a good spread, trying to make it like home, but I'd look around and see all of the things I would be thankful for wasn't there. To me, Thanksgiving was the hardest holiday to be far from home.
