MSgt Keith Hebert, also keep in mind that since you're in the National Guard, many of the states offer State tuition programs of some type. In your case (assuming you're an active drilling airman of the LAANG), Louisiana offers State Tuition Exemption Program (STEP) (http://geauxguard.com/resources/education/state-tuition-exemption-program/)
I would contact MAJ Horridge (the LANG State Education Officer - follow the link for info) first to find out the details of what you're eligible for. For instance, in some states, they will do STEP for only public colleges/universities. In other states, you can use STEP for private colleges/universities, but only get reimbursed up to the costs of what it would be to attend a public venue. Finally, for online degrees, the State may restrict STEP participation based on where the institution is physically located. For example, AMU is headquartered in West Virginia and Liberty is in Virginia.

I don't know much about AMU. But I am pursuing my Master's with Liberty University and have thoroughly enjoyed my experience. They have been great. Veterans qualify for the military tuition rate. They also give a book grant but it does not always cover the cost of books. But it really helps. Here's a link to the information on their military benefits: http://www.liberty.edu/online/military-benefits/.

I think that UMUC is a good school. However, I had nothing but problems when it came to my tuition. So I made the decision to pursue my degree elsewhere. But it does seem that things have improved as a number of people I know are pursuing degrees with them.

I would do a little research as some schools offer discounts if you show them a DD-214. 25% off my MBA no other schools could beat it. However I went the face-to-face route. If your good with IT stuff I say go for it.

I started using AMU last year and I can say from my personal experience that I would never recommend them. The instructors are very bias and close minded when turning in papers, and even though they state in their policy they will work with students who come up on orders they will not.
